Zada Elizabeth Cheney was born Sept. 3, 1918, to Elmer & Susanna Cheney (Haroff) in Lamoni, Iowa. She married Norval Baker in 1946 and encouraged him in his study of insects and beekeeping until his death in 1948. She married Lester Wolter on Aug. 14, 1960, and supported him throughout his career as a minister, aiding him in writing their newsletters and being involved in many community activities, one of which she was particularly fond of was S.P.I.R.E. Zada worked as an elementary school teacher and a librarian. She had a passion for music and loved to play the piano. She and Lester had a trailer and enjoyed traveling throughout the Midwest. Zada had a gift of always making everyone around her feel special, calling them by name.

Zada is survived by a niece, Jill (Cheney) Orr, one cousin, Mary Koehler, and her sister-in-law, Rosemary (Cheney) Marshall. Special friends (or as Zada would say, “adopted family”) Libby Seiffert, LaMar Staloch and Mary Jo Walk.
