Blaze destroys unused barn
MANSFIELD — An unused chicken and pig barn was destroyed by fire Wednesday night at 15815 620th Ave., west of Mansfield.
Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office detective Chuck Malepsy said authorities believe the fire started from an electrical failure.
He did not have an estimated total for damages.
Social Security card taken
Police received a report at 6:28 a.m. Wednesday that someone had reportedly gone through the mail at 2005 Stevens St. and left it lying in the street opened. A Social Security card was missing.
Mail tampering is a federal offense and can lead to a sentence of five years in prison.
TV set stolen
A TV set was reported stolen at 4:37 p.m. Wednesday from 514 E. Seventh St., according to police.
Storage unit broken into
Police received a report at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday that someone had broken into an apartment storage unit at 133 W. William St. A $20 radio and $25 pair of shoes were missing.
