A St. Paul man was arrested early Wednesday after he led authorities on a high-speed chase on Interstate 35 near Albert Lea.
Getachew Tilahun Adigeh, 33, is expected to be charged in Freeborn County District Court today with felony fleeing, reckless driving and excessive speed.
A Minnesota State Patrol trooper came across Adigeh driving southbound at a high rate of speed at about 12:35 a.m. Wednesday on I-35 north of Albert Lea at milepost 14, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office detective Chuck Malepsy.
The trooper stopped Adigeh, but as he approached his vehicle, Adigeh reportedly sped away, Malepsy said.
He allegedly led authorities on a chase, reaching speeds of 125 mph, until he lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch.
It is unclear how far the chase went and where the crash occurred.
