Margret died March 2, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. She was 95.
She was born Ingeborg Margret on July 3, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Louis C. and Margrethe (Holton) Pedersen.
Margret graduated from Wheaton College in May of 1938, with a degree in English. She taught school for two years, in Villa Park, Ill. On June 15, 1940, she married a native of Denmark, Frederik Jacobsen. A week before they were married, Fred had been ordained by the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Margret and Fred spent the first few years after their marriage in Iowa where Fred served various parishes. In 1953, they moved to Albert Lea where they served at Trinity Lutheran Church. A great musician, Margret shared her talents and had been church organist at Trinity for more than 30 years. She had also substitute taught at area elementary schools.
In addition to serving as church organist at Trinity, Margret served as choir director and had been active in WELCA, the Brazil Circle, Danish Sudan Circle and the Trinity Sr. Club.
In 1973, Margret and Fred moved to Alden, where Margret was active in the Tuesday Study Club, Book Club, and Monday a.m. Bible Study. She was also a former member of A.A.U.W.
Some of Margret’s greatest enjoyment came from entertaining. She was a fantastic cook and baker; her pastries were exquisite. There was always someone coming and going from her home, and no one ever left without having shared coffee and a sweet treat.
Margret is survived by her children: Raymond F. Jacobsen of Inver Grove Heights, Ruth M. Leitel
of Greeley, Colo., Steven (Karla) of Flagstaff, Ariz., Mary (Jim) Lippold of Creston, Iowa, John (Blair) Jacobsen of Albuquerque, N.M., daughter-in-law Becky Jacobsen of Medford, Wis.; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; niece Janice McKay, nephew David Larsen and several family members in Denmark.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, the Rev.Fred Jacobsen in 2000, and son Paul Jacobsen.
Special thanks to the Good Samaritan family who provided excellent care and love during her final years.
