Spring must be in the air because tickets are on sale for the annual St. Theodore Catholic School Auction.

“This is the one major fundraiser for the school,” said organizer Melissa Wittmer.

The auction aims to raise $25,000. There is a meal, live and silent auctions, a dessert auction, a cash raffle and a wine pyramid. The auction takes place April 5 at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club.

The meal is an 8-ounce sirloin, chicken Florentine or a vegetarian alternative, along with salad, potatoes and green bean almondine.

So what’s that wine pyramid? Donors gave bottles of red and white wines, Wittmer said, and they are wrapped in packaging. For a $10 donation to the school people can pick out a bottle, knowing only that it is red or white, and when they tear off the packaging they discover what brand and varietal they get.

Wittmer said she still is accepting wine donations.

The grand prize of the cash raffle is $1,000. There are three $500 prizes and five $100 prizes. The cash raffle tickets are $5 apiece. Wittmer said ticket buyers need not be present to win.

Hugh O’Bryne and Jim Manges will be auctioneers for the live auction.

Social hour begins at 6 p.m. The meal is at 7, with the silent auction open from 6 to 7:15. An auction of nine desserts takes place at 7:45. The live auction begins at 8 o’clock, and the cash raffle at 9. The event ends at 10.

Tickets are $30 per person, or to reserve seating a table for 10 is available for $300. Tickets are on sale at the St. Theodore Catholic Church parish office or at the event. Raffle tickets are available at the parish office or from several school families.
