Memorial services for Gladys Bernice Westrum, 88, of Albert Lea will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. The Rev. Jim Rushton will officiate.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Online Condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Gladys died Friday, April 25, 2014, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.

Gladys Bernice Westrum was born on Oct. 4, 1925, in Fargo, N.D., to Peder H. and Signe M. (Moe) Granholt. Gladys grew up in the Glenville area and attended Glenville School.

On Nov. 2, 1946, Gladys was united in marriage to Harold V. Westrum at Hayward Parsonage. Gladys enjoyed working as a farm wife. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Glenville and the Neighborhood Charity Club. Gladys enjoyed traveling, having breakfast and playing cards with friends. She also enjoyed family camp at the farm, going on fishing trips, county and state fairs, attending art classes and feeding and watching birds.

Survivors include her children Sandra (Steve) Hanson and Dean (Sue) Westrum; grandchildren Darren (Jenny) Hanson, Joel Hanson, Tim (Jodi) Westrum, Angie (Josh) Lair and Jerry (Tanya) Westrum; great-grandchildren Brooke, Callie, and Caleb Hanson, Lara, Bryn and Nora Westrum, Talin Tuchtenhagen, Henry Westrum and Tyler and Brady Lair; sister, Edna (Duane) Fenske and sister-in-law, Betty Granholt.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold, of 66 years; grandson, Phillip Westrum; father and mother-in-law, Victor and Olive Westrum, and brother, Palmer Granholt.

Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Glenville, Red Cross or State Services for the Blind.
