ST. PAUL  — The Democratic-led Minnesota House is ready to vote on a budget proposal doling out more of the state’s surplus.

The $322 million plan would increase spending on schools, care providers for the elderly and disabled and also for repair of roads that sustained massive damage from a harsh winter. The bill also puts more money into the expansion of broadband technology throughout the state.

It’s not a done deal. The Senate is assembling its own package and the two must be reconciled before a bill heads to Gov. Mark Dayton.

These are mostly adjustments to a roughly $39 million two-year budget adopted last spring.

Lawmakers have already put about half of the state’s $1.2 billion surplus toward tax relief and expanding a rainy-day reserve fund.
