MINNEAPOLIS  — Minneapolis police are looking for a van driver who drove off after hitting and killing a pedestrian on a sidewalk.

In a news release, police say a van entered the sidewalk, hit the male and then dragged him for a short distance. Officers received the call at about 10 p.m. Friday and when they arrived, witnesses were tending to the victim.

Police say the driver ran off and apparently abandoned the van after hitting a nearby building.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where he died. His name has not yet been released.
