Tigers finish 3rd at Winona

The Albert Lea boys’ track and field team won two events and took third place out of four teams Tuesday at Winona.

Preston Smith and Jackson Goodell led the Tigers.

Smith won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.13 seconds and took second in the 110 hurdles in 16.93.

Goodell won the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 52.29 seconds. He was one of three Tigers to place in the event. Caleb Troe took third and Blair Bonnerup took fifth.

Goodell was also one of two Albert Lea runners to place in the 800. He took third with a time of 2:09.00, and Brandon Bonnerup crossed the finish line 3.32 seconds later to take fifth.

Nathan Henshe, Zach Lind and Tim Christianson led Albert Lea in field events. Henshe finished second in the pole vault by clearing 9 feet. Lind was third in triple jump with a leap of 36-7, and Tim Christianson tossed the shot put 39-4 1/2 to take third place.

Next, Albert Lea will compete at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Owatonna.
