Weekend Planner: Easter egg hunts abound

Activities abound this weekend for area residents with children who are looking to celebrate Easter.

Albert Lea Parks and Recreation will have visits from the Easter Bunny on Friday.

Cost is $10 for a visit and a basket for city residents and $15 for out-of-town residents.

On Saturday, there will be two Easter egg hunts, the first hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department.

The hunt kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at City Arena.

The second, at Hy-Vee, begins at 10 a.m. for children ages 2 to 4, 10:15 a.m. for children ages 5 to 6 and 10:30 a.m. for children ages 7 to 10.

More than 200 eggs will be hidden for each age group at Hy-Vee, and all participants will get a gift bag. There will be three grand prizes for each age group.

Finally, children can visit the Easter Bunny at Northbridge Mall and have their picture taken. The Easter Bunny will be there from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

 

Friday

• Albert Lea Parks and Recreation will have visits from the Easter Bunny. Cost is $10 for a visit and a basket for city residents and $15 for out-of-town residents. Register with the Parks and Recreation office.

• The Albert Lea Art Center’s “Birds, Buds and Blossoms” exhibit will continue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• A Pink for Penny Benefit will be from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Albert Lea Eagles Club in honor of resident Penny Jensen, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in January.

• KB Entertainment with Craig Karaoke will go from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. There will also be a dinner, silent auction and bake sale.

• The Albert Lea Eagles Club will host a birthday supper from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Entertainment will be by Arlen & Butch.

• American Legion Post 56 will host karaoke from 8 p.m. to midnight.

• Tom Minehart will perform at the Albert Lea Moose Lodge.

 

Saturday

• A Gold Wing Harley Bike Display will be at Northbridge Mall.

• The Freeborn County Historical Museum will host its Village Cleanup from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

• The Albert Lea Parks and Recreation Department will host an Easter egg hunt at 9:30 a.m. at City Arena.

• Hy-Vee will host an Easter egg hunt starting at 10 a.m. at the grocery store.

• The Albert Lea Open disc golf tournament will begin at 10 a.m. at Bancroft Bay Park.

• The Easter Bunny will be at Northbridge Mall from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for photos. Live bunnies will be available to pet from noon to 2 p.m.

• A DNR pool banquet will be at the Albert Lea Eagles Club. Entertainment will be by Tom Minehart.

• Entertainment will be by RAHK, with karaoke at 7 p.m. at the Albert Lea Moose Lodge.

 

Sunday

• The Conger volunteer fire department will have an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Conger Community Center. Menu includes, eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, milk and orange juice. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12.

• The Walters firefighters annual Ultimate Firefighters Feast will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Walters Fire Hall. There will be made-to-order omelets, french toast, pancakes, eggs, sausage and a beverage. Cost is $8 per person.

• The Alano Society of Albert Lea will host an Easter breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at 1005 N. Ulstad Ave. Menu includes pancakes, french toast, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, toast, orange juice and coffee. Cost is $6 per person.

• American Legion Post 56 will have a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, sausages, potatoes, scrambled eggs, fruit cup, juice, milk and coffee. Cost is $7.
