A 4-year-old boy was injured Friday afternoon after he ran into the path of an oncoming pickup on Hawthorne Street in Albert Lea.

The boy, identified as Gavin Cordona of Albert Lea, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Police stated Cordona ran out in front of a 2001 Ford F250 pickup, driven by Netzahualcoyotl Banuelos, 36, of Albert Lea, on Hawthorne Street west of Garfield.

Banuelos was driving eastbound when the child ran north across the street.

The collision took place at 1:30 p.m.

Police stated Banuelos was cited for driving after revocation and no insurance, but otherwise was driving slowly through the neighborhood.
