Memorial services for Eileen Viola (Cox) Flugum of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Friends and family may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Service, 2210 E. Main St. in Albert Lea.

Eileen was born April 23, 1930, to Lloyd and Constance Cox in Guthrie Center, Iowa. She attended two different schools in the Anoka area and graduated from Anoka High School. She was united in marriage in 1949 to Howard M. Flugum at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, served at her church and other organizations which included Sons of Norway, American Legion Auxiliary, Freeborn County 4-H, Church Women’s United, Christian Business Women, Neighborhood Club, Circle and American War Dad’s and Auxiliary. She also assisted as a buyer for Naeve Hospital Auxiliary.

She loved being with her children, grandchildren, six foster children, nieces, nephews and the many others she cared for in their home. She learned to bake and cook Norwegian. She loved to make jelly and goodies to give. She also loved sewing, embroidery, gardening and fishing.

She leaves, with love, her husband, Howard; sons Leslie and (Lenore) Flugum of Burnsville, Manville and (Brenda) Flugum of Springboro, Ohio, Ted and (Wendy) Flugum of Albert Lea and Timothy Flugum of Minnetonka; daughters Gwendolyn and (Edwin) Plantage of Albert Lea and Sandra and (Dan) Reese of Owatonna; grandchildren Allison (Kerry) Boyd and great-grandchildren Connor, Keira and Cassidy of Burnsville, Jeffrey (Alison) Flugum and great-grandchildren Emma and Kullen of Burnsville, Brandy Erickson and great-grandchildren Alyssa and Sara of Florida, Syndra and (Todd) Snelling and great-grandchildren Kinsey and Tucker of Ohio, Justin and (Becky) Flugum of Ohio and great-grandchildren Alana and Lillion of Kentucky, Billy Johnson and great-grandson Billy Jr. of Ohio, Darcy and (Joseph) Broerman of Maple Wood, Gerrit and (Cassie) Plantage and great-grandchildren Adeline and Reyer of New Brighten, Ahna and (Rico) Roddy of Shoreview, Joshua Hendrickson and daughter, Mariah Layne Bolinger, of Albert Lea, Caleb and (Gabriely) Flugum of Oklahoma, Zachary Flugum and (Erica) of North Minneapolis, Jarrod Flugum of Texas, Abigale Flugum of Texas, Nathan Reese of New Ulm, Angie Reese of Eden Prairie, David and (Caron) Bulger of Maryland, Pamela and (Russel) Belthaser of Florida and Daniel Reese of Owatonna; great-grandchildren, Ezra, Ariel, Silas, Londyn, Macius, Kathrine and Christopher; sister, Helen, and (Neil) Gerritt and family; brother, Arnold, and (Winnie) Cox and family and Elton Cox; brother-in-law, Jerry, and (Mildred) Flugum; sisters in-law Ethel Thisted, Alida and (Merle) White, Ilo and (Chuck) Long and many dear nieces and nephews.
