MADISON, Wis. — The Iron River man accused of killing his parents has pleaded not guilty to charges in Bayfield County.

Prosecutors have charged 44-year-old Jim Crain Jr. with killing 79-year-old Jim Crain and 76-year-old Eunice Crain in the couple’s Iron River apartment on Dec. 7.

A criminal complaint says Eunice Crain was able to call authorities before she died and when officers arrived, they found the couple dead with towels over their heads, lying in a pool of blood in the dining room. The suspect was in the bathroom with a blood-covered butcher knife and wounds on his neck and wrists, apparently self-inflicted.
