The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St. SE, Mason City, Iowa, 50401, or Salem Lutheran Church.

Lorraine Verna (Godtland) Ellertson was born on Feb. 10, 1915, in Lake Mills to parents, Carl and Bertina (Fosnes) Godtland. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. She attended school in Lake Mills.

On Oct. 31, 1931, she married Leonard Ellertson. They lived in Mason City for several years and then started farming, which the couple really enjoyed doing. During this time, two sons were born, Wayne and Phillip. Lorraine worked for about 15 years at Mercy Hospital in Mason City and Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea. After their sons both joined the Navy, Lorraine and Leonard decided to move into town. They spent 16 winters in Alamo, Texas.

Leonard passed away on Feb. 18, 1993. After his death, Lorraine spent several years in Arizona where Phil and Nila live. Eventually, Lorraine decided Lake Mills was where she belonged.

She is survived by her two sons, Wayne (Jean) Ellertson of Charles City, Iowa, and Phillip (Nila) Ellertson of Queen Creek, Ariz.; three granddaughters, Julie (Mark) Morris of Fort Collins, Colo., Lori (Steve) Kreinbring of Omaha and Kathy Jo (Robert) Whiteside of West Branch, Iowa; three great-granddaughters, Emily (Robert) Coppola of Fort Collins, Colo., and Molly and Annie Whiteside of West Branch, Iowa; two great-grandsons, Kevin Amos of Fort Collins, Colo., and Kyle Kreinbring of Lincoln, Neb.; and a very special friend, Bev Haugo, of Lake Mills.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; brother, Clifford Godtland; and three sisters, Ruth Detra, Connie Brown and Volborg Godtland.
