Spraying for weeds can kill the bees

I would encourage everyone who has a yard to not spray your dandelions with Weed Be Gone and other 2-4D broadleaf weed killers. Why? When you kill dandelions and other broadleaf weeds with herbicides, you destroy important nectar sources for honey bees and other pollinators. The chemicals also drift and can kill bees and other pollinators. Don’t spray. If you must make your lawns perfect, go out and weed your lawns by hand. Its exercise. Its outdoors. You are not watching TV.
As a beekeeper, I hope area residents will consider not spraying for “weeds” and do their part to encourage pollinators.
Thanks!
