Local skaters can stop by the skate park this weekend to learn some tips and tricks and can see some interesting skating demonstrations.
The Spring Kickoff will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the skate park at City Beach, 701 North Shore Ave.
Jenny Davis, recreation program supervisor for Albert Lea Parks and Recreation, said that 3rd Lair Skatepark & Skateshop from Golden Valley will be at the kickoff to show demos, tips and tricks, and will even host some contests.
Davis said this event is mainly to create some good talk about the skate park and to teach kids the rules about the facility.
3rd Lair will be running most of the show, as they will have their own emcee and will have a trailer selling merchandise, Davis said.
There will also be prize drawings from 3rd Lair and from Albert Lea’s Martin Cycling & Fitness.
Davis said this is one of the first big events at the skate park, which has been by the beach since around 2004.
“If you want to learn new things or watch some good skaters, it will be a good time,” Davis said.
This is a free event open to all ages.
