ROCHESTER — Motorists traveling to Medford or the Medford Outlet Center on Interstate 35 north of Owatonna will encounter ramp closures and detours beginning Monday as construction begins on the roundabouts, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Exit 48 will be closed during the duration of the six-week, $833,000 project, which will replace the two roundabouts. Traffic will be able to access the businesses to the west of I-35 and the city to the east of I-35 via detours at exit 45 at Clinton Falls. To reach businesses on the west side of I-35, motorists should take Steele County Road 9 west to Steele County Road 23 north. To reach the city of Medford and its businesses, motorists should take Steele County Road 9 east to Steele County Road 45 north.
The project is expected to be complete by July 18.
