Spray left city worker all wet

Thumbs up to the city worker who stopped to clear out the fallen leaves, twigs and debris that was plugging up the storm drains on East Richway Drive across from the Freeborn County Fairgrounds after the heavy rains on June 18.
The collected water was well over the curb and across the sidewalks on the north side of the street. Wearing just regular shoes, he walked through the almost knee-high dirty water to clear the manholes so the water would drain. Vehicles slowed down from both directions when drivers saw him.
Thumbs down to the car driver who was a short distance behind the other cars. He continued driving at a normal speed through the water, resulting in a very hefty spray of dirty water on the city worker who was just returning to his vehicle.
Let’s all be more aware of what is going on around us as we drive our vehicles on city streets and roads.
