Doris Wedge

Funeral services for Doris Wedge will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St. in Albert Lea, with visitation one hour prior with the Rev. Dick Spande officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea. Memorials are preferred to Ridgeview Foundation, 490 S. Maple St., Suite 110, Waconia, MN 55387.
Doris died Monday, July 21, 2014, at Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice Home in Chaska. She was 95. One of 12 children, Doris was raised in the Clarks Grove area where she attended elementary school in Oakdale. She met the love of her life, Alan Wedge Sr., and got married in Northwood. Doris was a homemaker, taking care of her four sons. She loved nature, especially fishing and watching birds on her feeders. Doris also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and making trips to Mystic Lake Casino. She was active in the Danish Sisterhood as an officer and was a member of North Freeborn Lutheran Church.
Alan and Doris retired to Florence Gardens, Ariz., in 1981 until 2003 when Doris moved back to Minnesota. She is survived by her children Alan Jr. (Betsy) of Leesburg, Fla., Chuck of Danville, Calif., and Jim of Carver; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters Ann Rapp of Minneapolis and June Buchan of Florence, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Sr., on Feb. 5, 1983; son, John, on Aug. 2, 2002; and grandson, Dennis, on March 23, 2010.
