Ruth Schreiber

Funeral services for Ruth Schreiber will be at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Tom Biatek will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Hillcrest.
Ruth passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. She moved to Albert Lea at the age of 10 and has been a resident ever since, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1948. She was a member of United Methodist and was involved in the VFW and Legion Auxiliary. She has worked at Clothing Care, Woolworths and the Stables Supper Club. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo, cards at card club and the family game Marbles “Aggravation.” She also enjoyed fishing and camping trips at Ripple Lake. Ruth was always smiling; nothing could bring her down. She was a wonderful grandma, staying strong throughout many of life’s hardships including multiple surgeries. Ruth will always be remembered for her calm demeanor, very caring qualities and spunky personality.
She is survived by her children Laurie (Steven) Long and Gary (Shannon) Schreiber; grandchildren Ryan Long, Melanie Long and Ashley (Levi) Berg; great-grandchildren Ava Long, Hannah Berg, Henry Berg and one on the way; sisters-in-law Irene Tandeski, Marietta Neitzel, Joyce Schreiber and Helen (Emil) Lykken; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Slung”; parents; siblings Roger Neitzel and David Neitzel; and many other relatives.
