Shera Steckelberg

Shera Lynn was born July 13, 1957, the daughter of Gerald and Jeannine (Lembke) Zabel in Wells. Shera graduated from Wells-Easton High School with the class of 1975.  She started her working career as a nurse’s aide in Blue Earth at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, had worked for many years at Parkview Care Center in Wells and most recently worked at Country Neighbors in Mapleton. She enjoyed camping with her family, spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo and cards. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Wells, the Legion Auxiliary and past president of the Women’s Auxiliary. Shera will always be remembered as a caregiver. She gave loving care to her husband, her children, grandchildren, father, extended family, patients, residents, co-workers and friends. Shera gave unconditional love to all she met. She will be especially missed for that reason.

Shera is survived by her husband, Dean, and son, Tanner, both of Wells; stepchildren Aubrey Steckelberg of Owatonna and Ben Steckelberg (Jamie Wandersee) of New Ulm; three grandchildren, Tashina Barta, Noalin Nordaas and Ethen; father, Gerald Zabel; two brothers, Terry (Lana) Zabel of Austin and Barry Zabel of Mankato; very special friend, Carmen Tatarek, of Wells; father-in-law, John Steckelberg, of Wells; in-laws Gaylene Steckelberg of Owatonna, Bill (Amy) Steckelberg of Wells, Jean (Ken) Wessels of Blue Earth, Janice (Keith) Olson of St. Cloud and Sue (Bob) Rishavy of Alexandria; along with cousins, many nieces and nephews and their families and a host of friends.
