Alyce Ovrebo, 1940-2014

Funeral services for Alyce Mae (Carter) Ovrebo will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St. in Albert Lea. The Rev. Phil Shaw will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Alyce died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. She was 73.

She was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Mark A. and Bertha L. (Branstad) Carter. Alyce graduated from Albert Lea High School. She resided in Twin Lakes until she moved to the Rochester area in 1964.

She married the love of her life, Jerry Ovrebo, on Feb. 8, 1959, in Forest City, Iowa. They enjoyed more than 55 years together.

Alyce was an expert gardener, having a special talent for growing orchids.

She was very accomplished at sewing, which included clothing and leather craft.

Everything Alyce did reflected her gift as a talented artist. It showed in her paintings, sculptures, gardens, cooking and craft creations.

She also enjoyed reading, listening to classical music and the beauty of animals, especially her many feline companions.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jeanie (Jim) Michelizzi of Pine Island and Lenore Delhanty of Pine Island; grandchildren Denise Delhanty of Rochester, Jerry Delhanty of Pine Island, Miranda Williamson of Pine Island, Patrick Williamson of Rochester and Jacob Michelizzi of Pine Island; great-grandchildren Christopher, Catherine and Connor Williamson of Pine Island; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Bertha Carter.

Alyce was a wonderful, unique, creative and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be fondly remembered for her patient, loving heart and will be greatly missed.
