Caroline Attig, 1940-2014

A memorial service for Caroline J. Attig will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery. Caroline passed away at her home surrounded by family Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014. She was 73.

Caroline was born Oct. 31, 1940, to William and Lorraine (Kauffmann) Schwarz in Minnesota Lake. She grew up and attended school in Albert Lea. She was later united in marriage to Lyle Attig on April 28, 1957, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Caroline was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

In her early years, Caroline worked as a waitress at various places including the Holiday Inn and the Big Dipper. She also worked other various jobs around the area until she started 7-24 Answering Service, which she operated for around 15 years. Caroline was also a member of the Eagles Club. In her free time, she enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards and cheering on the Twins. While she was younger, she enjoyed fishing, camping and snowmobiling with her family. Caroline was known for her good sense of humor. She was had a cheerful, bubbly personality. She was always the caretaker of the house, and was always concerned for everyone.

Caroline is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; daughter, Cindy Crawford; brother, Willard Schwarz; a brother in-law, Duane Willaby; and father and mother in-law Ernest (Iris) Attig.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Shirley (Randy) Crawford and Kelvin Attig; special friend, Joe T. Anderson; grandchildren Troy and special friend, Andrea, Todd and special friend, Holly, Onnah, Alex, Adam and special friend, Crystal, Jessica and special friend, Mick, and Jared; many great-grandchildren; sisters Diane Willaby and Donna (Jeff) Jones; son in-law, Jim Crawford; brothers in-law Howard (Imogene) Attig and Lowell (Kathy) Attig; sister in-law, Cheryl (Dennis) Lien; along with many loving relatives and friends.
