Even Democrats require ID to vote

Dear readers: It would be interesting to have an honest analysis of the flaws in the voting system that we have in Minnesota.

Several years ago, the Legislature passed voter ID and Gov. Mark Dayton vetoed it.

The common argument? “Voter disenfranchisement.”

Consider buying cigarettes, beer, prescription drugs, etc.

Is anyone “disenfranchised” at a liquor store, when asked for picture ID?

On that note: Minnesota’s voting system is an invitation to fraud.

Here is the conversation I had when I voted in the primary election Tuesday. It could have happened anywhere in Minnesota:

Q: Do I need a picture ID to vote?

A: No, what’s your name?

Q: My name is Mike DeMoss.

A: OK, sign next to your name.

Q: What would you do if someone had already signed my name earlier today and voted?

A: There is no way to resolve that.

Q: Do you know where a voter’s picture ID is mandatory?

A: Tell me.

Q: Union elections and the Democratic National Convention.

Maybe they know something about voter fraud — that might be right.

What’s the solution? Voter ID.
