The secretary of state election is certainly one of the most important statewide elections taking place this year.  Upholding Minnesota’s values in the area of election law and the implementation of the law is so very important as we move forward always honoring transparency of process, fairness to all voters, and demonstrating a solid awareness of the obstacles to voting experienced by so many Minnesotans.

Thanks to election reforms championed by Rep. Steve Simon, all Minnesota voters can now vote more easily.  As chairman of the House Elections Committee, Rep. Steve Simon, now candidate for Secretary of State, introduced the bill that lets voters register and update their registrations online. It is faster for voters, improves the accuracy of election data, and saves taxpayers money. That’s good government we can all support.

Also thanks to Steve Simon, all Minnesotans can now vote absentee, thanks to another new law championed by Steve Simon. All voters can vote absentee before Election Day, anywhere and anytime they want, without having to provide an “excuse.” This makes voting easier for those working long hours and college students living away from home. Steve Simon also ensured that we can order our absentee ballots online. No more lines on Election Day.

For these reasons and many more, I will be supporting Steve Simon for secretary of state. I hope each of you will do the same.
