DULUTH — Democratic Sen. Al Franken and Rep. Rick Nolan turned to a Hollywood actor to rally students in Duluth.
The two candidates appeared with Jon Hamm, best known for his role as Don Draper on AMC’s “Mad Men,” at the University of Minnesota Duluth Monday.
Hamm hit hard on issues that matter to the college crowd, including student debt and the minimum wage. He told students he received financial aid during college and finally paid off the loans 11 years after graduating because he got work as an actor.
The most recent Star Tribune Minnesota Poll shows 48 percent of likely voters surveyed support Franken, while 39 percent support Republican challenger Mike McFadden. Nolan is locked in a tight race with Stewart Mills in the 8th Congressional District.
