Keep Hutchison as parks director

An open letter to our City Council, mayor, councilman Larry Baker, city manager and the Albert Lea Tribune editor:
Our Albert Lea Parks and Recreation Department facilities are a strong and splendid work to be proud of and enjoyed. These jewels are a credit to Jay Hutchison heading up the year-round programs.
As a city voter, my recommendation is to keep the Parks and Recreation Department as it is with Jay on the job — with appreciation. My friends and our city voters — many I feel will agree.
To announce a personnel job elimination by the city manager prior to approval of an administrative plan, which is before the City Council is in poor taste and questionable judgment. Please do not treat employees this way.
Sometimes new people come to Albert Lea and have little or no background knowledge of traditions and excellent local services. If other issues — I repeat — if, are any factor, deal with them correctly through good management.
I feel that an apology is in order, so please do it. Keep Jay and our Parks and Recreation Department.
Dick Paul
