LeRoy A. Kofstad, 90, of Hartland died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at New Richland Care Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Shawn Stafford will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Hartland Cemetery.

LeRoy Kofstad

LeRoy A. Kofstad was born in Waseca County on Nov. 4, 1923, to Arthur and Eloise (Katzur) Kofstad. He has been a lifelong resident of the area, graduating high school in New Richland. He married Bonnie (Pollei) Kofstad on May 12, 1946, in Mankato.

LeRoy was a member of Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as head usher and church board member for many years. LeRoy was a carpenter for 30 years and built over 70 houses during that time. For the next 30 years he farmed land and raised livestock. He also served as superintendent of sheep on Fair Board. LeRoy and Bonnie enjoyed traveling and camping. They made their winter home in Arizona for 13 years where LeRoy spent time volunteering his carpentry skills at a local church.

LeRoy is survived by his children Dennis (Linda) Kofstad of New Richland, Susan (Donald) Pedersen of Albert Lea, David (Lynne) Kofstad of Ellendale, Randy (Linda) Kofstad of Shinglehouse, Pa., and Jayne (Lorne) Lund of Medford; grandchildren Gary Kofstad, Teri (Dave) Zollar, Laura (Paul) Stene, Lisa (Andy) Jenson, Lyndon (Katrina) Pedersen, Jason Kofstad, Isaac (Martha) Kofstad, Annie (Adam) Morstad, Gabe Kofstad, Emily (Scott) Poeschl, Jeremy (JaNita) Kofstad, Jenny (Josh) Kidd, Alisha (Brad) Bischof, Corbin Lund and Trenton Lund; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Harriett Light, of Fargo, N.D.; brother, John (Pat) Kofstad, of Mantorville; as well as many nieces, nephews and relatives.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; parents Arthur and Eloise Kofstad; sisters Bernice Thompson, Fern Schmidt, Ruth Demmer and Adele Folie; as well as a great-grandson, Randy Allan Kidd.

A special thanks to Dr. Sharma Kattel, Dr. Arvin Vocal and all the nurses at Mayo Clinic Health System of Albert Lea and New Richland Care Center, and Hospice for all the loving care they gave to Dad and his family.

Memorials are preferred to the Hartland Cemetery upkeep fund.
