Lorna Troe, 1933-2014

Lorna Mae Troe, 80, of Albert Lea was born an identical twin Oct. 24, 1933, in Twin Lakes to Alton and Lauretta Gavle. She graduated from Emmons High School in 1951 and was united in marriage to Charles Troe on Aug. 26, 1951, at Lunder Lutheran Church.
She passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmons Lutheran Church. The Rev. Christopher Martin will officiate. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Lorna enjoyed being a homemaker. She was an excellent cook, loved collecting dolls, playing bridge and going to the movies. She also enjoyed playing piano, golfing, bowling, painting, quilting and scrapbooking. She was an avid sports fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She also loved watching the Lynx women’s basketball team.
Lorna was a member of the Emmons Lutheran Church, the Rachel Circle and the Emmons Civic Improvement Club. Lorna and Charles loved spending their winters in Texas. Most of all, Lorna received tremendous joy from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her entire life was filled with giving, sharing her love and compassion with others and embracing a zest for life.
She was blessed with 63 years of marriage to her loving husband, Charles. She is survived by Charles and their four daughters, Kathy (Richard) Wirt, Julie (Don) Yost, Sandy (Alan Wittmer) Lee and Audrey (Terry) Peterson; grandchildren Tony (Erin) Wirt, Kelly (Mark) Hickman, Devin Yost, Brett (Kristen) Peterson, Charlie Peterson, Lauren Lee and Danielle Lee; great-grandchildren Claire and Paige Wirt, Arthur Hickman and Mara Peterson; special family friend, Pam Stead; sisters Lorraine (Ken) Nagel and Berdine (Greg Staples) Gavle; brother-in-law, Ron (Carol) Troe; and many nieces and nephews.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gloria Jean, in infancy; and brother-in-law, Dale Troe.
