COTTAGE GROVE — Cottage Grove police have arrested a woman who they said fought with officers and grabbed an arresting officer’s handgun after being questioned about the disappearance of her 7-year-old daughter.

Police said the woman was arrested outside Cottage Grove Middle School on Thursday after officers were notified she was trying to take her other child out of school. Authorities said a Hennepin County court had ordered the woman’s daughter be turned over to her biological father but the girl never arrived at his home.

Police said they told her she was under arrest for deprivation of parental rights. They said she grabbed an officer’s gun and he shot her with a Taser before securing his gun.

The woman faces charges including disarming a police officer and obstructing with force.
