Ruby A. Ringoen, 1918-2014

Ruby A. Ringoen, 96, of Owatonna, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
Ruby was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Henry and Alvina (Knaack) Struck. She attended country school. Ruby married Kermit Ringoen on April 3, 1938, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Glenville then moved to Worth County, Iowa. In 1959, they returned to Glenville. Ruby and Kermit farmed all their lives. Ruby was hands on with all the farming chores. Kermit died on Jan. 7, 1978, and Ruby moved to Owatonna in 1980.
Ruby was a past member of Round Prairie Church where she was active in circle, Silver Lake Lutheran Church in Northwood and current member of St. John Lutheran Church, Iowa. She was a Goldstar Mother.
Ruby enjoyed gardening, playing cards and daily walks. She was an excellent cook and her family loved her doughnuts, brownies and cookies. Ruby loved children and babysat her grandchildren along with neighborhood children.
She is survived by her children Jean Nelson of Northwood, Shirley (Terrill) DeBerg of Ackley, Iowa, Robert “Bob” (Ann) Ringoen of Reynolds, Ill., John “Jack” Ringoen of Janesville, Wis., Mark (Bonnie) Ringoen of Glenville and Sherri (Richard) Carpenter of Owatonna; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Duane (Elaine) Struck of Albert Lea; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kermit Ringoen, infant son Ronald Ringoen, son Marvin Ringoen, daughter-in-law Jeanie Ringoen and son-in-law Bob Nelson.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the North Round Prairie Cemetery in Freeborn County.
