Savick favors bad insurance

One of Savick’s radio ads is geared at women voters, particularly the employed. I’m a woman voter, working full-time. What has Shannon Savick’s voting and MNsure done for me? My husband and I had, (key word is “had”), insurance with a $750 deductible with adult dental. Now I have a $6,000 deductible without adult dental. Comparatively, both policies provide preventative care, but once an illness is diagnosed, under my old insurance, I only had the $750 deductible before the plan paid.
Now, I have to pay a $6,000 deductible. That is not affordable. Let’s factor in the differences in the amount of premiums for insurance, comparing our previous insurance to a similar Obamacare policy. Result is a cost increase in premiums of over $1,625 per month, with higher deductible than we had. The premium assistance or tax credits available on MNsure do not come close to covering the over $1,625 per month premium increase that we would be subjected to. My husband, now retired and under Medicare, does not have to face those huge increases on his insurance; but, I still do.
Obamacare/Mnsure, is not affordable. The proof: a more than $1,625 premium increase. Savick and Democrats did nothing to help Region 1 in southeastern Minnesota. They were aware of the inequities in this insurance market. They failed to work with Department of Health and insurance commissioner to correct these problems.
The latest news report is new 2015 rates will only go up an average of 4.5 percent statewide. Don’t forget this alleged increase is on top of the massive, over 100 percent raise for our area now in effect for the 2014 year. The alleged 4.5 percent statewide increase is an average; it may easily be twice that amount. Again, on top of the over 100 percent increase already charged to us, this year.
For those young, likely without medical bills, 2015 rates in our area might fall 4 or 5 percent. That is no relief. A few people may get back a sliver of their 100 percent plus increase, after being overcharged and gouged this year! Most voters in this area will pay statewide increases, plus existing excessively high premiums, settle for new higher deductibles, with so-called Obamacare benefits they can never use, or go without health care. Some choice.
Savick claims to have helped almost everyone, including women, seniors, disabled, caretakers and veterans. Members in my family, like yours, qualify for all of the above; including retired union worker and union steward. Savick’s voting and alleged promises have not helped us. Instead Savick gave us discriminatory, unfair insurance premiums that are highest in the nation — based on insurance statistics in an AARP article.
State Rep. Savick, you have no control over Medicare and Social Security. Both are federal programs, voted on, controlled by federal congress. Savick’s false radio ads scare individuals receiving federal programs. Savick has an obligation to voters to disavow misleading ads running repetitively for days, terrifying voters.
