Vote for Borgos for attorney general

The attorney general race is a bore this year. With three of six candidates active, the GOP and DFL are nowhere to be found. Lori Swanson, the DFL incumbent, is so “confident” in her election that she states to Minn Post: “I’ve always been in races with multiple candidates … I believe if you do your job well, if you just focus on that, everything else will take care of itself.”

Scott Newman of the GOP isn’t any better. He refuses to participate in debates, unless Swanson appears. They have agreed to one 25-minute debate this season with Independence Party’s Brandan Borgos. Swanson and Newman snubbed St. Catherine’s College, the University of Minnesota’s Students Against Police Brutality and the NAACP of Minnesota by not participating in their debates.

This is completely unacceptable behavior, and we must hold them accountable for their arrogance. This year, hold your candidates accountable and don’t vote for Swanson or Newman. A vote for Brandan Borgos of the Independence Party will bring independence and leadership to the office — partisan and passive in nature for the past eight years. He will also bring accountability, transparency, compassion and civil rights to the forefront of the Attorney General’s Office, as the attorney for the people of Minnesota, not the attorney for special interests.
