LONG LAKE — Two Twin Cities-area fishermen said they were rescued from Long Lake after falling through the ice.

Bruce Halverson and Paul Monahan said they were in the water for about two to three minutes Sunday afternoon about 150 yards from the shore. They said other fishermen were nearby and came to their rescue with a shovel.

Sgt. Ken Vnuk with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol said the ice is very unsafe following warmer weather over the weekend. He said authorities have been warning people to stay off the lakes.
