Savick is caring representative

I’ve read some of the letters to the editor and campaign fliers sent by supporters of Peggy Bennett or herself. They are disingenuous, to put it mildly. First of all, Shannon Savick is not the bogey lady she’s been made out to be. I also doubt Bennett is the saint she’s been described as.
I met and got to know Savick during her run for election in 2012. Savick is a very kind and caring person who really wants to do the best for her constituents in District 27A. She has done that in her two-year stint as our representative. During her last campaign she made some promises, and she fulfilled most if not all the issues she proposed.
What bothers me is that some are condemning her for the things she’s voted for with other Democrats. One of her main issues was to provide $500 stipends for volunteer firemen. She said in 2012 she wanted to accomplish this and some other things, and she told us how she would.
In Bennett’s fliers she has said some of the things she’d like to get done but she would wait until she gets to St. Paul to find out how her goals will get accomplished. That sounds to me like the way a lot of Republicans run for office. Give vague ideas of what they want to do without telling how they would do it.
Bennett wants to get rid of MNsure, a program that has given insurance to 10 million uninsured across the U.S. and was brought to fruition in Minnesota with the help of Savick. Bennett will not tell us what she would replace it with. Will she take away coverage for pre-existing conditions, make kids between 23 and 26 get their own insurance, to name a few. She won’t tell us, so she doesn’t deserve to be elected.
Savick has worked hard for our district and will continue to work hard for us when she is returned to St. Paul. I urge all to vote for Savick and all DFL candidates to continue to move Minnesota forward.
