St. Theodore Catholic School today celebrates Give to the Max Day in Albert Lea. The event dubbed the “Great Minnesota Give Together” has raised awareness for schools and nonprofits. In 2013, this event raised over $15 million in one 24-hour window.

According to St. Theodore Catholic School Principal Sue Amundson, this is the second year that the school has participated in the statewide fundraiser. People can contribute either by visiting the St. Theodore website at www.sttheo.org or visiting the www.givemn.org website and search for St. Theodore Catholic School.

“This year we have also received matching funds totaling $1,750 from Mrs. Gerry’s and our own school board,” Amundson said. “There is a minimum contribution of $10, which will be matched dollar for dollar from these organizations. We hope to quickly exceed our total goal of $5,000. All proceeds will support the daily operation of the school.”

Organizations often hold events and activities throughout the day. At St. Theodore Catholic School, the giving will be monitored with regular updates sent out through announcement, email and the St. Theodore Facebook page. This year, the students also recorded a thank-you video that will be sent to each contributor.

According to a press release, St. Theodore Catholic School offers students small class sizes, academically challenging classes and is a place where children are taught to live like Jesus taught, “Enlivened by the spirit of freedom and charity!”
