Hawthorne Elementary students will present a Veterans Day program at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Hawthorne Elementary gymnasium. The program will include all fourth- and fifth-grade Hawthorne students singing patriotic songs and select fourth-grade students presenting a short play about Veterans Day.
Honored guests participating in the program are members of Albert Lea’s American Legion Post No. 56, who will present a flag-folding ceremony.
A slide show of honor will be part of the program, which includes photos of veterans who are family members or friends of Hawthorne students and staff. In addition, kindergarten students will announce the branches of military and community service, as veterans of those groups stand to be recognized.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
