School program was memorable

I was fortunate enough to attend the 1:30 p.m. program at Lakeview Elementary School for Veterans Day. Although I have no children attending that school (I am way too old), I was very impressed with the program. It brought tears to my eyes, as I saw these children, not doing because they were told but actually feeling and showing the pride in our country that normally veterans feel, perform as they did. Both the children and their parents should feel proud of what they did to make us “old people” reflect and remember why we served.

A heartfelt thanks to whoever wrote that program, and also to Ms. Roxanne Irons, who directed it. I deeply appreciated the professional performance of these fourth- and fifth-graders. Other schools also did Veterans Day programs. Sorry that I could not see them all, but I thank them as well. I did wish to send my thanks to Lakeview Elementary School.
