Betty Avery, 1927-2014

Funeral services for Betty Lou Avery will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bonnerup Funeral chapel in Albert Lea. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Bonnerup Funeral chapel and again one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.

Betty passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at her home. She was 87.

Betty was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Graceville. She lived in Wells for a brief period and later moved to Albert Lea around 1944 and has been a resident ever since.

In 1945, Betty was united in marriage to Edgar Avery in Albert Lea. To this union four children were born.

Betty worked for Land O’ Lakes for over 25 years. She also took care of the children and the home. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She also looked forward to getting together with her TOPS group. In her free time Betty enjoyed reading, walking, traveling, listening to the Minnesota Twins and loved her morning coffee time with everyone at Trumbles. She was a very thoughtful lady who put others before herself. She loved her family and enjoyed every moment she was able to spend with them.

She is preceded in death by her spouse, Edgar; parents; brother, Alvin Budach; and a son in-law, Frank Funke.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Vic (Donna) Avery, Phyllis (Gerald) Lamping, Allan (Nancy) Avery and Mary Lou Funke; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Darlene Zimmerman, Marjorie Beiser, Gladys Tennis and Carol (Bob) Wheeler; and sister-in-law, Sharon Budach.
