Editorial: ’Tis the season to be giving

It’s nice to see so many people out and about at Albert Lea retail locations over the weekend.
While the gift-finding season is in full swing, be sure to pause and give to the needy by donating to the United Way and Salvation Army charities. They do more for people in need in this community than most people realize, from helping families after a fire takes their home to just making sure people don’t go hungry. This town and all towns would be a mess without them.
When you see the bell ringers, drop a dollar or two in the red kettles. When the United Way comes to your workplace, give a few bucks each month. These organizations make your dollars go a long way, and the good they do is all local.
By giving, you show you remember what celebrating this holiday season is truly about.
