Gladys Sigurdson, 1921-2014

Funeral services for Gladys M. Sigurdson, 93, of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Bayview. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Gladys died on Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.
Gladys Marion Sigurdson was born on June 14, 1921, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Ralph and Marie (Sorenson) Leidal. She grew up and went to school in Albert Lea.
In 1940, Gladys was married to Ralph Sigurdson. They lived in Mason City and Fairfield, Iowa, for several years, settling in Albert Lea in the early 1960’s. Gladys was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed camping, crafting, playing cards, and especially loved her cat Sassy.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat (Tim) Miller, of Austin; grandchildren Bobby Oakland, Tim (Nancy) Shurson, Chad Heiny and Tiffany (Scott) Nowak; great-grandchildren Cody, Casey, Kelsey, Kayla, Eric, Adam, Caroline and Paulina; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph, her daughter, Lorraine, son, Larry, sisters Betty, Dolly, Ellen Mae and Mary Helen, and a brother, Lester.
Gladys’ family would like to especially thank her niece Cathy for all of her care and visits with Gladys.
