Julie Ann E. Whitney, 58, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at Hospice of North Iowa. Julie Ann was born on March 20, 1956, in Albert Lea to Denise and Richard Petersen. She graduated from

North Central School in Manly, Iowa, in 1974.

On July 15, 2000, she married Jerry Whitney in Mason City. They made their home in Manly where they have 13 dogs. In her free time, Julie Ann enjoyed gardening, watching wildlife, doing puzzles, crocheting, having family visits and playing with her precious dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Manly; siblings Carol Mushero of Elizabethtown, Ky., Mark (Erin) Petersen of Manly, Jo Ann Petersen of Mason City, William “Bill” (June) Petersen of Manly; and several other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cindy Jo.

Memorial services for Julie Ann will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly. The Rev. Linda Johnson-Prestholt will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Alden Cemetery in Alden.
