Larry Brekke, 1951-2014

A memorial service for Larry S. Brekke, 63, of Geneva will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Larry died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at his home in Geneva.

Larry Steven Brekke was born in Albert Lea Sept. 12, 1951, the son of Selmer and Alpha (Peterson) Brekke. He was baptized and confirmed at West Freeborn Lutheran Church. He grew up in the Manchester and Freeborn areas, graduating from Freeborn High School in 1969. Larry attended the Art Institute of St. Paul for two years and Rochester Community College for two years. Larry lived in Dexter most of his life and worked for MnDOT as a surveyor. He was currently retired. Larry enjoyed painting, wood carving and woodworking, gardening and working on automobiles. He especially enjoyed the time he got to spend with his grandsons Pacey and Charley, as well as other family members. Blessed be his memory.

Survivors include his children Shanda (Doug) Meyer and Travis (Norena) Brekke; grandsons Pacey Brekke and Charley Brekke; brother, Dale (Kathy) Brekke; and nieces and a nephew.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Alpha and Selmer Brekke and his sister, Carolyn Brekke.
