ROCHESTER — Olmsted County prosecutors have charged a Hayfield man in a head-on dirt bike crash.

Twenty-five-year-old Jordan Randall Bates faces six counts of felony vehicular operation and one count of misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. He’s due in court Jan. 22.

The charges stem from an incident in May when deputies found a woman and a man lying in the road in Rock Dell Township. The man had tissue and bones sticking out of open wounds.

Bates was standing nearby. According to a criminal complaint, he told a deputy he and the injured man were riding dirt bikes without headlights and collided. The woman was a passenger on the injured man’s bike.

Bates allegedly said he’d had as many as eight drinks.
