The Southwest Middle School Student Council is elected by the student body to represent them in decisions made about and for them. The student council feels it is their responsibility to do what is right, listen to their peers and help come up with solutions to problems as they arise.
Some activities the council is doing this year are the penny wars, book fair, dodge ball tournament and Blue Zones projects. In the spring they help with the Albert Lea Tiger Trot. The council also collects used ink cartridges, box tops and milk caps that are counted and turn in.
The council raises money and then finds ways to spend that money on projects for the SWMS student body. The SWMS student council’s pledge is to be a positive voice for the school community and to make Southwest Middle School a fun and better school.
