Betty Rasmussen, 1927-2014

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Rasmussen was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Owatonna to Cornelius and Adelaide (nee Brick) Whelan. She died Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Rasmussen was a dental assistant and office administrator for Dr. Lind, DDS. She was a eucharistic minister at Northwest Community Hospital and St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church. Betty was an avid bridge player and sports fanatic who will be remembered for her sense of humor and enjoyment of entertaining guests.

Betty is survived by her children Tod (Jan), Jay, Karen (Tom) Wenzel, Paul and Amy (William) Tribbett; her grandchildren Erika, Corey, Scott, Zach, Dan, Lorraine, Amy, Corie, Jannel, Martin and Ian; her great-granddaughter, Autumn; and her sister, Carolyn Gustafson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; her siblings Zenobia Hurley and Patricia Whelan and her brother, Thomas Whelan.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. Visitation will also be from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral mass at 11 a.m. at  St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, 1201 E. Anderson Drive in Palatine, Illinois. Interment will be private.
