The Lake Mills wrestling team went .500 Tuesday at a home wrestling triangular, according to a press release.
The Bulldogs beat Central Springs 51-21 and were edged 38-30 by No. 6 Class 2A Osage.
In the triangular’s first dual, the Bulldogs and Green Devils battled back and forth for the North Iowa Conference title.
“We wrestled hard against Osage, but we needed to have a few more things go our way to win,” said Lake Mills coach Alex Brandenburg. “It was a great dual and a great atmosphere backed by a great turnout from our home crowd.”
Lake Mills led 30-24 with three weights remaining but ran into Osage’s three highest-ranked wrestlers in those matches. The Green Devils trio picked up a pin and two major decisions to pass the Bulldogs.
In the second dual of the night, Lake Mills defeated Central Springs. The Bulldogs were able to win 10 of the 14 weight classes.
“Overall, I was pleased with how are kids performed tonight,” Brandenburg said. “At the same time, we are still struggling with setting up our shots of our feet. We need to be more aggressive and take some more chances to get better.”
Next, Lake Mills will host a six-team dual tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday.
