No! No! No!

What is it about the word “no” that Superintendent Mike Funk is not understanding?

This community has elected school board members who have everyone’s best interests at heart. This community also has many people who are very intelligent, study issues and realize that changing the school calendar is not in the best interest of the families who are involved with children attending school.

Why, then, does Dr. Funk present another plan for changing the school calendar under the guise that this will help the underachievers? It is time to face reality, the board has voted it down and that is where it needs to stand. Albert Lea does not need controversy. We need to allow our district staff to continue teaching our children without the cloud of changing the school calendar hanging over their heads. The staff also needs to be able to express their opinion without fear of repercussions.

It is time to stand down on this issue and get on with the education of our children.
