Harris Hillman, 1943-2015

Funeral services for Harris F. “Bob” Hillman, 71, of Austin will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. James Kassera will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Bob died, surrounded by his family, at his home Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015.

Harris Francis Hillman was born May 9, 1943, in Oakland Township, the son of Harris R. and Frances (Becker) Hillman. He graduated from Glenville High School in 1961.

On May 11, 1963, he was united in marriage to Jane Lee Anderson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Bob went to work at Wilson & Co. where he worked on the hog kill for 20 years. He then went to school to get his boiler operator license and continued at Wilson, which later became Farmstead, as a boiler operator. Altogether he worked there for over 40 years. He was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, buying, detailing and selling cars, cooking and baking, and especially time spent with his family. Blessed be his memory.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; children Paul Hillman of Buffalo, Minnesota, Deb (Don) Malm of Rochester and Kim (Mark) Goodnature of Austin; grandchildren Brandi Hagen of Glenville, Kaylee Hillman and fiance, Steve, of Alden, Tony Mondragon of Northwood, Nethaniel Tusen of Hayward, Andy and Logan Hillman, both of Austin, and David and Matthew Goodnature, both of Austin; great-granddaughter, Journey, of Alden; sisters Judy (Wayne) Nelson of Northwood and Darlene Heggestad of Northwood; brother, Doug (Shirley) Hillman, of Gordonsville; and nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donny Hillman; and nephews Allan and Brian Grosland.
