Memorial services for Holger “Buzz” F. Knudsen Jr. of Albert Lea will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Holger died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at his home in Albert Lea. He was 87.

Buzz was born May 7, 1927, in Albert Lea, the son of Holger and Evangeline (Larsen) Knudsen Sr. He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School and then served his country in the U.S. Navy.

On June 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to Harriet Nelson at Clarks Grove Baptist Church.

Buzz lived his entire life in Freeborn County where he owned and operated Plymouth Shoe Store that was started by his great-grandfather over 125 years ago. He had also been employed with Leland-Dress Real Estate for many years.

He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving in many leadership roles. He was a member of Cloverleaf Lions Club and had served as district governor. Buzz was also very active in the Red Cross. He loved hunting, fishing, horses and bird watching and feeding. He was a county weather recorder for many years.

Buzz is survived by his wife, Harriet, of Albert Lea; children Reid and his wife, Laura Knudsen, of Clarks Grove and Jan and her husband, Les Coe, of Alton, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Linda Knudsen, of Albert Lea; and grandchildren Jordan Knudsen, Alysha Knudsen, Brianna Knudsen, Randi Coe, Kati Coe, Michael Kelley and Cody Knudsen. There are two great-grandchildren, Dejah Coe and Landon Johnson. Also surviving is his sister, Avis Jorgensen of Tucson, Arizona.

Buzz was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kay Knudsen; and son, Brian Knudsen.
